This is where I meet with you at your home or commercial premises to discuss your brief and vision for your project. The more information you can provide at this meeting the better, as this will help me to understand your requirements, budget considerations and timeframe. If you have architectural plans or concept drawings, these can also be reviewed and discussed.
Following this meeting, I will prepare a proposal which includes a fee estimate and an indication of time it will take to meet your project requirements.
Upon receiving your acceptance of my proposal, I will interpret your brief and prepare a master document incorporating inspirational imagery, textures, materials and colours I visualise for your project. This helps to explain the overall look and feel I am wanting to achieve for your project.
This document will be discussed with you, your feedback will be taken on board and the document refined to ensure that you are comfortable that your brief is being met and that you are confident in the creative direction of your project.
Spatial planning is an important stage that requires consideration of the space and how each space is best designed for the user.
For residential, this can include removing walls to create more space or adding walls to create more intimate areas within the home. It can also involve furniture layouts when procuring new furniture and rugs to determine the optimal size of each piece.
For kitchen design, it is important not only to consider the footprint of the kitchen, but the layout of the kitchen and sizes of the appliances as well as the practicality of what needs to be stored and where.
Similarly for bathroom design, it is important to maximise the space whilst ensuring all fittings are accounted for.
All drawings and designs are completed by me. I find that having a hands-on approach ensures cohesiveness with the creative direction and keeps the design process moving. All designs are developed using CAD software that is presented in both 2D and 3D views so you can truly get a sense of what your space will look like on completion.
Once we have agreed on the design direction and the spatial planning is complete, I will work with you to select the materials, finishes, colours, fixtures and fittings to bring your project to life. These will be fully detailed in a document so you know exactly what product is to go where.
Where possible I will provide you with samples and I will recommend that we visit showrooms to view selected fittings or larger materials such as stone slabs before signing off on the material selection.
Should furniture and furnishings be required to complete your project, I will work with you to select pieces taking into account your brief, the design direction and the spatial planning requirements of your project.
I work with a number of custom furniture manufacturers as well as retailers and wholesalers and will present you with a number of options for each piece. A full schedule of each furniture piece including selected finishes, suggested fabric and the cost will be provided to you to assist you in your decision making.
I have high expectations for the built details and finished project and am available to work alongside your builder, architect and various trades to ensure the interior design aspect of your project runs smoothly and the design is delivered.
